Pig flu and prisoners in the age of war

After stirring up more than a little chaos and panic over the stupid pig flu, including Obama’s declaration of a national emergency, and health queen Kathleen Sebelius insisting we must take the vaccine – except there isn’t enough vaccine to go around – one could almost hear Chicken Little flying around in his coop screaming, “the SKY is falling.”

Meanwhile, H1N1 vaccine remains in short supply here in the US. Government officials have stated that they knew all along there wouldn’t be enough pig flu vaccine to go around. In fact, there wouldn’t be enough to vaccinate those deemed high risk – much less the rest of the population.

But in a move resembling the Karl Marx adage “from each according to his ability, to each according to his need,” the administration announced they would be sending 10 percent of the US supply to World Health Organization.

If only the story ended there. But alas it does not.

Pentagon officials announced on Friday that Club Gitmo prisoners will be receiving the H1N1 vaccine, should they choose to take it.

Leaving the highly-charged “to take it or not to take it” vaccine debate on the back burner, this latest move is a matter of principle. I seriously doubt offering H1N1 to these prisoners – and let’s remember they are there for reasons not limited to attempts to destroy us – will cause them to give up their hatred for the free world in one fell swoop.

Let’s face it. Even in the confines of “the Club,” this group of terrorists is still winning by many accounts, as the left cries and scrambles to make sure their every demand is met, whether it be giving them access to cable TV, catering to their prayer demands, or fixing the AC units. I’m sure you get the point. They’re prisoners from foreign countries intent on annihilating you and me. They have no rights as American citizens because they are not American citizens.

God forbid that any American who wants to receive the vaccine not be able to get it – much less die because they couldn’t. For the families that will have to suffer through such a scenario, knowing vaccinated terrorists at Club Gitmo are healthy as horses and still desire to destroy America  will be no comfort.
