Well into 2009, Americans find their freedoms threatened both at home and abroad.
Al-Quaida isn’t the only source, here. The Taliban, rogue dictators from Lebanon, Korea, Iran and Cuba to name a few are certainly chomping at the bit to see the USA burn.
But we also have a real threat within our borders. An out-of-control Congress seems hell-bent on expanding the powers of the federal government, whether or not by constitutional methods. Power, greed and corruption seem to have infiltrated every corner of our country.
Who’d have thought we’d be on the verge of losing our country from the inside? Who’d have thought a year, two years or five years ago that it would be up to the citizens of the United States of America to band together in ways they’d never thought of, to take their nation back.
There are those fleeting moments when I think the future looks bleak at best. Those moments are short-lived, though.
The realization is that those of us who are freedom-loving Americans will no longer remain silent or go quietly into the night.
While the threats from terrorism, in any form and by any definition are palpable, I believe in the vision of our founding fathers and know many of you believe in that vision as well.
As these pages continue to expand, our role is to remain vigilant, and to remember if we have anything to say about it, our best days are yet to come.
